AMSI and our partners will establish a National Research Centre in the Mathematical Sciences. The Centre is a national collaborative venture that will support and build the mathematical sciences in Australia.

The NRC will become the premier center for collaborative research, spanning all branches of mathematical sciences and facilitating breakthroughs in mathematics leading to progress in science, technology, medicine, and economics.

Advancement of knowledge
Facilitate the advancement and communication of fundamental knowledge in pure, applied, and interdisciplinary mathematics through a comprehensive program including:

  • A connected network of Australian research precincts
  • Targeted theme years in Australian research priority areas
  • A comprehensive annual workshop program
  • Supported scientific visits by international mathematicians
  • Collaborative events with government, business and industry
Build future capacity

Build future mathematical sciences capacity by:

  • Training the next generation of researchers through:

– Summer and Winter programs for undergraduates, honours, masters and PhD students
– Postdoctoral fellowships in the mathematical sciences

  • Actively recruiting women and underrepresented minorities to participate in programs
Outreach and communication

Cultivate in the larger society awareness and appreciation of the beauty, power and importance of mathematical ideas to understand the world around us.
