We will start with an exercise, the proof of Fermat’s Christmas Theorem – also called two squares theorem – via the hyperbolic plane. We will then slightly extend our approach to prove Lagrange’s four squares theorem. We will try to put all this as well in the context of turbulent but fascinated times.
